The design of League Gothic was based off of Alternate Gothic, a typeface originally designed by Morris Fuller Benton in 1903. It’s an open-source font that is available for free use. League Gothic is a public domain typeface that is free to use – created as a contribution to the open-source type movement – and available for download in OTF, TTF, WOFF format (valid for most operating systems). League Gothic is a condensed sans-serif typeface released by The League of Moveable Type. Thanks to the entrustment of the excellent and patient people on WND.com, it has been revised and updated based on the contributions of Micah Rich, Tyler Finck, and Dannci, who have contributed additional glyphs. The League of Moveable Type decided to make its own version and contribute to Open Source Type Movement. The company went bankrupt in 1993, and because the original font was created before 1923, the font is in the public domain.
